About Us

Simpact stands for Social Impact, which sits at the centre of our business. We aim to promote and support charities, social enterprises and not for profit organisations in delivering services and supporting those who are most vulnerable in our society.

 

2016

Forward Motion and Breaking Ground social impact programmes launch in three schools in Bristol and Wiltshire and we begin work with Carers Trust and Mind local charities.

2017

The Simpact team expands to five people, based across Bristol and London. Forward Motion programme expands with three more schools in south Gloucestershire and Bristol.

2018

Key contract secured with Mind to support their expansion across the public sector marketplace.

 

2019

First contract secured with Age UK and the Simpact team expands to 15 covering all corners of England and Wales.

2020

Secure first contract with Nesta and launch a 6-month pro-bono consulting offer across the charity sector, to support organisations significantly impacted by Covid-19.

2021

Levelling the Playing Field social impact internship programme launched to support care leavers and first major public sector contract secured with Waltham Forest Borough Council.

Executives

Mark Shields

CEO

Mark is the founder of Simpact. He has specific expertise in the design and delivery of large social inclusion programmes in the UK, Asia, Africa and Europe and is passionate about helping charities and social enterprises deliver exceptional outcomes for vulnerable groups. He also acts as an Adviser to founders of social enterprise start-ups in the WorkerTech sector.

Mark earned his MSc in Development Studies from SOAS and has postgraduate study in Strategy and Finance from INSEAD.

Janet Chandler

DIRECTOR

Janet joined Simpact as a Director in 2016 and works with our clients across all stages of the contracting lifecycle. She has a breadth of experience in business development, service design, proposal development, consortium development and building supply chains across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Her expertise is multi-sectoral, with a particular focus on skills, employment and health.

Janet earned her degree in Geology from Imperial College and has postgraduate study in Management from Durham.

Rikki Garcia

DIRECTOR

Rikki joined Simpact as a Director in 2019 with an extensive background in leading services in the public and voluntary sectors, specialising in service design, co-production and engagement, change and programme management, and business development. Formerly Chief Executive of Healthwatch Greenwich, Director of Commercial Services for vInspired, and Head of Commissioning at NCS Trust, he leads Simpact’s work across the public sector.

Rikki is Chair of South East London Mind, and Chair of the Healthwatch Bexley Advisory Board and has postgraduate study in Service Design from IDEO.

 

Associates

Liton Ullah

ASSOCIATE

Liton has worked across business development and operational environments to secure and deliver contracts for private, public and not for profit organisations across multiple sectors including employability, health and social care and IAG services. Liton has worked in the UK, India and South Africa to lead on business development and the operationalisation of successful bids including a multi-million all age carers advice service, a rural skills development programmes across six states in India and employability programmes in Johannesburg.

Liton earned his degree in Law from Sheffield Hallam and is a Trustee at Age UK Sheffield.

Matt Spry

ASSOCIATE

Matt supports Simpact across strategic, commercial and transformation assignments. Within the service outsourcing sector he has worked in teams that won contracts totalling in excess of £2bn, with clients from both the private and public sectors. Matt’s own consultancy Emergent regularly partners with Simpact to deliver projects, which include helping social enterprises design more sustainable business models, and working with growing charities taking their first steps in bidding for service contracts.

Matt earned his degree in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick.

Daniel Stanway

ASSOCIATE

Daniel is a business transformation specialist, helping organisations improve their operational capability. He has a broad range of experience from roles outside of consulting, including Factory Plant Manager, Business Unit Manager and Head of Quality. Daniel’s people-orientated coaching and mentoring style allows him to manage the transition from textbook theory to implementation, whilst realising the desired outcome with positive employee engagement.

Daniel has postgraduate qualifications in Engineering Management from the University of Bristol and is a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Sigma Master Black Belt.

 
 

Michelle Golding

ASSOCIATE

Michelle supports Simpact’s Social Programmes and Internships, and works as a Supervising Social Worker supporting Foster Carers and Children in Care, specialising in therapeutic social work and systemic approaches. Prior to becoming a social worker Michelle spent 10 years as a community film maker, working with young people and communities to make documentary films led by young people themselves.

Michelle gained her MA in Social Work from The Tavistock, and also has a degree in Communication and Cultural Studies.

Lucy Gleave

ASSOCIATE

Lucy uses cutting edge evaluation knowledge and charity sector experience to help organisations build clarity, confidence and capacity to design and demonstrate meaningful social change. Previously Head of Impact at The Prince’s Trust, the focus of her work is to maximise the contribution of the social sector in the UK to create a better future for disadvantaged people.

Lucy earned her degree in Geography from Loughborough University and is a Trustee of the Charity Evaluation Working Group.

Jim Cranshaw

ASSOCIATE

Jim helps charities develop their organisational strategy, advise on their theory of change and engage stakeholders to help develop their work. Jim has also worked as a senior fundraiser and has helped numerous clients develop their approach to fundraising and fundraise for specific projects. He is an experienced facilitator and trainer, and specialises in delivering capacity building workshops to the civil service, charities and higher education.

Jim earned his MSc in International Policy Analysis from Bath University and is a Trustee of Electronics Watch.

 
 

Frances Hill

ASSOCIATE

Frances is an expert in the development and humanitarian sectors working with NGOs, academics and the private sector, securing funding for a wide range of organisations. She has been responsible for mentoring, scoping, coordinating and producing successful bids for many bilateral and multilateral donors and has facilitated workshops on effective proposal development and partnership strengthening throughout Africa and Asia.

Frances earned her MSc in Development Studies from Bath University and is currently Chair of Trustees for the South West International Development Network.

Zeiniz Virani

ASSOCIATE

Zeiniz is a digital and technology executive with experience in retail, leisure, eCommerce, education management and social housing. He is skilled at helping organisations create technology plans that realise their ambition and adept at galvanising technology, cultural & human change management to deliver value to Simpact’s clients in partnership with his own consultancy, Marmalade Advisory.

Zeiniz has postgraduate study in Leadership and Management from Cranfield and Henley Business School.

Kenneth Elliot

ASSOCIATE

Ken worked in the voluntary, care and supported housing sector, before moving into senior positions in the NHS and then to the civil service. Holding roles in the Ministry of Justice such as Head of Organisation Development, Head of Organisation Design, and Head of Health Co-commissioning, he then moved to work at DfID and FCO, advising governments internationally on large scale changes and transitions brought about by unrest or natural disaster.

Ken earned his MSc in Organisation Design and Development from King's College London and also holds postgraduate qualifications in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring.

 
 

Stephen Bell

ASSOCIATE

Stephen is a business development, growth and transformation specialist who focuses on developing and generating cross sector collaborations to bring together organisations to deliver the best results for service users and develop more sustainable business models.

Having held leadership roles at several large employability and skills providers, he has long standing and extensive knowledge of the social inclusion sector.

Stephen has postgraduate study in Management from CASS Business School.

Mark Roberts

ASSOCIATE

Mark is a senior leader who has delivered services on behalf of public sector commissioners nationally and locally. He has been responsible for stakeholder relationships across multiple programmes over the past 20 years, engaging with public bodies including local authorities, devolved national government and central government departments. He is also an expert in employer engagement and has worked with industry and sector interest groups representing a spectrum of employers to support marginalised groups find sustainable employment.

Mark earned his degree in Economics from Aberystwyth University, is a Fellow of the Institute of Employability Professionals and has extensive postgraduate study in Leadership and Management.

Ben Wilding

ASSOCIATE

Ben is a digital transformation and strategy expert who has worked with clients such as Mencap, the Economist and Greater London Authority to design and deliver key elements of their digital strategies. He now works with Simpact to support our voluntary sector clients to enable them to maximise the impact of their digital services.

Ben earned his degree in Korean from SOAS and has post-graduate qualifications in Strategy, Leadership and Management from Saïd Business School, Warwick Business School and the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently studying for an MSc in Sustainability and Behaviour Change at the Centre for Alternative Technology.
